The surface structure of EHEIM Substrate offers excellent conditions for the development of beneficial bacteria. When replacing the filter material, it is necessary to mix with about a third of the used substrate with a new substrate to ensure rapid colonization of bacteria. EHEIM Substrate can be rinsed with warm water and used several times.
